3 Common Washing Machine Issues and What You Can Do to Repair Them

About Me
Getting Your Appliances Fixed

After struggling for years to deal with my damaged appliances, I knew that I had to make a few changes. I started focusing on recording the issues so that repair professionals could identify and resolve problems faster, but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. I realized that I needed to buy a new appliance suite for my home, and after I did, it was really incredible to see how much nicer everything worked. I also purchased an appliance services package, so that I wouldn't have to maintain the equipment on my own. This blog is all about getting your appliances fixed the right way the first time.

When your washing machine breaks down, that pile of laundry can get out of control and leave you without much clothing to wear. Instead of dwelling on the negative outcomes, it's better to repair your washing machine quickly. Read on for a few common problems you may encounter when your washing machine breaks and what you can do about them.

1. Washing Machine Not Spinning

If your washing machine isn't spinning, it isn't going to be able to remove the water from your machine. Your clothing will be soaking wet and it can take forever to dry your clothing afterward. Not to mention, if it isn't spinning, the soap isn't getting to all of your clothing either, which means your clothes aren't getting as clean as they should. If the machine isn't spinning, it may be a few different issues.

You can try to put in a smaller load, as the load may be too large for the machine and isn't able to spin. If this didn't work, take the back of the machine off (or top depending on the type of machine you have), then inspect the drum of the machine. If any screws are loose, tighten them, then check all of the fittings around the drum to be sure they are all in good shape. If you can't see a problem, hire an appliance repairman for help.

2. Washing Machine Leaking Water

If your washing machine is leaking water onto the floor of your home, you may have an issue with a leaky hose on the back of your machine. Inspect the hoses and change any that have a hole or damage to them. If the hoses weren't the problem, check the fittings where they connect to the wall or the back of the machine. Tighten the fittings or replace them if necessary. Then check out your handy work to see if these changes fixed anything.

3. Washing Machine Is Full of Water

If the washing machine is still full of water and not draining out of your machine, it may be because you have a clog somewhere. Bail out the water inside the machine using a bucket or a submersible pump. Once you have it empty, check the drainage hose. Use a drain cleaner and a snake to attempt to clear the drain. If this didn't work, hire a professional appliance repairman for help.

These are just a few of the common issues you may have throughout your appliance's lifetime. If you have an issue that you cannot repair on your own, hire services like D-3/A-OK Appliance Service Inc.
